**We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting our first series of educational events for BPD. Show your support by coming out and joining us.**
The Florida Borderline Personality Association is offering a series of 3 educational events to raise awareness to shed light on this disorder, provide information about research and issues related to BPD and foster a supportive and loving community. All events are from 6-8 PM at the CHILDREN’S BOARD OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY and will include experts, consumers and family members who will present a film or talk, followed by a panel discussion with attendees. This is open to the general public and 2 CE’s are available for clinicians.
The first event is OVERVIEW OF BPD: Wednesday, March 18, 2015
We will be showing “Back From The Edge,” a documentary that exposes the struggles of living with BPD and offers insight from leaders in the field. You are not alone- come and see for yourself!
The second event is FAMILY MATTERS: Wednesday, April 15, 2015
Tonight we embrace the families, friends, and loved ones of those with BPD. While we can’t always “fix” our loved ones or make their pain go away, we can do our best to learn validation and other skills to be more effective, demonstrate empathy, embrace community, and learn about available resources to forge meaningful lives. We will watch the documentary, “Coping with Borderline Personality Disorder” followed by a panel discussion about family issues related to BPD.
The third event is BPD IN ADOLESCENTS: UNDERSTANDING AND TREATMENT: May 20th, 2015
Tonight we discuss BPD and how it presents in adolescents. BPD symptoms often manifest in adolescent years, as new responsibilities, expectations, and roles arise. We will talk about how to recognize it, what treatment is available and how teens and their families can be helped.
